The Night Wanderer

Life is full of little coincidences. I was reading Chestnut’s blog the other day, the one where she talked about a friend giving her a bed for free and asking her to review it. The coincidence is that that very day, *I* had received a bed from a friend of MINE. She had plurked asking for volunteers to test it out before she released it. I answered that I’d try to get in to help, but was not able to make it in time. So imagine my great pleasure to be gifted with the bed anyway. *grin* I decided that Chestnut had started a meme (although I’m not really sure this is a good use of that word), and it was my obligation to continue it. So here it is – the “I’ve been gifted with a bed” post.

I’ve mentioned my friend Thaumata Strangelove to you before – she finds great websites and plurks them to her friends. I’ve shared several of them with you already. Thau is also a VERY talented creator in SL. She builds lovely furniture and other goodies. (She’s also a great baker in RL, but I must confess I’ve only SEEN pictures of the pastries but never gotten to INGEST any.) Her store is The Grindstone in Ursa Major. Some of her recent objects are a snuggle Bed with 25 fabrics, vintage apothecary bottles and jars, octopus chandeliers and a guitar case.

Thaumata was building a bed that resembles a ship, The Night Wanderer Bed. We got to hear a lot of her comments and thoughts via Plurk as she built. The finished product is lovely, with both couple poses and single sleeper poses. I dressed up in my Pirate outfit (it seemed appropriate somehow) and Bamboo and I went aboard to try out the poses and play with the fabrics. The bed is 21 prims and only L$500. That seems like a good deal to me. /me smiles. I admit, however, that my other bed was a gift also, so I am not necessarily the most informed consumer.

What I CAN tell you, however, is that Bamboo and I LIKE this bed. It fits nicely in our beach cottage. We plan on sailing away in our dreams, secure in our Night Wanderer.
